Has anyone got any reccomendations for waters in the Derby area? I'm not really after monsters just looking for a nice setting with a chance of a fish or two. I've only been fishing in ernest for a few years and am concious that i'm becoming a bit blinkered to barbel and want to do something about it. Any help greatly appreciated, pm if you prefer Smurf

I've heard of a water they call 'The Dam', It's rumoured to hold some nice tench, I think that its near Chesterfield and that's all I can tell you. Local Tackle shops might help you more. If not Hollowell or Sywell like Tom suggests, are both in wonderful surroundings. The difference between the two is that Sywell seems to have been better for multiple catches of tench the last couple of years, were as Hollowell 6 fish in a weekend would be good, but it might throw up a really big fish! ....The sailing boats can also be a problem at Hollowell unless you can get mid week. Posts: 10 (17/03/08 10:37:46) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hello Smurf!Welcome. you can try a lake called the Hermitage its a nice water in Whitwick that is between darby and leicester lots of tench from 2lb to 10lb you can fish it on the float or feeder verry good by the end of march bait to use worms,casters,maggots,corn,bread,all fished over a bed of hempseed. hope this helps if u need any help finding the lake just ask.
