What time of year do you start your tench-in i`m just about to as the river season comes to an end .Some say i`m to early but they can be caught at any time of
year ?carp were thought to be a summer only fish but now we know different is it the same for the tench ?maybe one day well be fishing for them all year i know
1 or 2 do so what do you think?????? Thamestrev be safe and tight lines to you all

Hi Trev. April for me this year. But any shallowish (6ft) water will be worth targeting in a warm spell now.Tight lines to you sir.Chris.

I've caught tench early in the spring and record the water temperature now too! I've caught them with a water tempaerature of 10 Degrees, never had
much below this temperature, always worth a try though!

Quite a few coming out down south I hear and the Bream were really bugging the carpers last weekend near me in the Midlands however I shall be waiting till
April before visiting the lake with a baited hook as snow is forecast for this weekend!!!!!

I've had some nice back-end of the season tench but by April the fish should be very active and therefore locating them tends to be easier.

My first session last year was on the 29th April. Water temp rose from 60 to 63.5 degrees overnight!

Agree with you to some degree but after all these years tend to go with the flow now, that said wouldnt dream of fishing in flowing water....... |

I used to think that i would never fish in "the close season" but the trouble is that May is just such a nice month to be out fishing and Tench in
particular are in much nicer condition then than come mid June/July when they are puffing up to spawn.
Mid - late April start for me this year (nearly said season!) weather depending. |
