Advice for a newcoming Tench angler |
Lead | |
|
I have recently started fishing a lake which has a head of double figure tench along with large carp and bream i can only fish between 8 in the morning and
dusk so the best tench feeding times are limited. I have had recent success with maggot clips and have learnt that the margins are the best places where people
catch because the middle is over 30ft deep. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Alex advice for an amatuer Tinca angler needed! (Result) |

dont be suprised to find out that the best feeding times are through the day. use the fact that you cant night fish to your advantage by not taking to much
gear its easier to be mobile, not forgetting that you can fish the same swim again the next day.

i voted timing, it can be vital, but i have caught all through the day before.

If you are local to the water, then go for a couple of hours in the evening, and try to find some fish rolling or fizzing. Then come back in the morning and
they won't be far away. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
.. all these moments will be lost..in time....like tears..in..rain.Time to die.....

Constant feeding one swim only will eventually bring the fish to you. (pre baiting). Where you pre bait can/will make a difference to how good your swim will
end up. If you can fish the same swim every time you go you will have a huge advantage, so swim selection, bait and how you fish is vital. Do not forget you
can ledger from 1 foot out to as far as you can throw it. If you can find where the tench are already showing then that is a good starting point, as for bait
keep it cheap and simple and fish as often as possible, If you cannot fish just go and do a quick bait up, keep the feed trickling in.

I hate to be a bore but I totally disagree with the above post..... I'd say fish where you see fish activity and be prepared to move if you're not
catching.
As for time of day, if it's a pit, you can catch throughout the day if conditions are right. If your fishing time is limited and the fish mostly patrol the margins, I'd say bait several swims with a bit of hemp and then check them out looking for some indications of feeding activity, i'e. bubbling or rolling. Then floatfish!
