I went out this morning at first light for the first time this year and I bagged 3 tench, not big around 4lb mark but well happy with that.

Yes I know thamesmead I grew up around those lakes when they had no water in them!!
There are loads of good waters around here just most are getting too busy that' why I joined a syndicate, not cheap but cracking place |

Rob,
I know what you mean, was on Th. A the other week just after the snow and the carpers were on there already. Used to be quite nice about 3 or 4 years ago, not many on there at all. Used to fish neighbridge, but that's chocca as well. Havent fished the SCAC pits for years for pretty much the same reason. But i only tend to fish the water park after the 14 march, when the rivers close and i'm off by 16 june.. Paul |

I grew up fishing neighbridge and large lake all the time for the tench. N.bridge used to be excellent but it's rubbish now only way to catch the tench is
on carp tactics!!
Manor brook has the best fish but is only realistically fishable for a very short time. The syndicate I am on is great as only 12 man and of those 2 only pike fish 1 other is a tench man and the others are carpers who are hardly ever there. |

Rob, sounds like you found yourself a good spot. Was on manor brook today, but no joy. Three carpers on the main bank all blanking like me. Not even a perch on
the lobs. Has it gone off on there since the floods, everyone seems to think it has? Used to be a bailiff for SCAC back in the early 90s on wick water. Used to
be some cracking tench in there back then, best 7-12. Fished neighbridge also back in the early 80s and used to bag up on the place. Last fished it in 2003 and
had to resort to carp tactics back then, but had some good fish and lost a monster at the net (effin barbless hook rule). Bit more warmer weather and things
should pick up, trouble is manor brook will be closed on 31 march.

Yes SDince the floods manor has not been the same and at the time I went around there in my waders, there where fish of all species swimming along the
track!!!! I did a few hours yesterday on the syndicate and caught one only about 3 lb though. I used to fish n.bridge in the late eitheies and early 90's
like you say was excellent then.

Hi Paul,
have been up there this last couple weeks - not a sniff to date , feels like the floods have alot more effect than thought ! Do you and (Rob?) think it has tench form? Have done alot of lobs over red maggots and yet to pick up anything other than perch and the more than occasional pike !!! Cheers

Frank,
Rob is your man for advice on manorbrook tench as i'm sure i read that he's tench fished it and ive only just started fishing it recently for the perch. Thamesmead B in particular is rumoured to hold some very good fish and ive done a few close season sessions on A, 2006 & 2007, but not had anything particularly big yet (6lb plus male). But that means nothing as i havent given it what i would consider a proper sustained bash. I'll probably try to get on Th. A shortly after the 31st March and give it another try, thats if its not rammed with carpers. Happy to let you know how i get on. Paul |

Manor has some cracking tench and hauls of them are possible whne the conditions are right. They seem to shoal up a lot so it's finding them that is the
problem. Right at the far end has been best for me. Lat year just before it closed I had 1 fish in a day session up to 10lb 2oz. I have not fished it this year
as now on a good syndicate in the park.

Hi Rob ,
thanks for your reply - had the feeling there might be some goof tench in manor , a 10lb+ is a fantastic fish in anyone's book ! Do you know what the opening dates are for manor? Cheers Frank

Manor is onyl open from 17th september through to 14th march?? I think??
That is the problem with it theres only a very small time when you realistically can catch em. That said the tench in the syndicate I am on are moving about in the last couple fo weeks. Spent a whole day out in the boat last weekend lookign for them and finding nice spots etc |

Hi Rob
thnaks for reply - I called club sec in the end - its 30th March which does give a small window pending if it milds up or not I guess - asked if this might be relented at all but more to do with old game season restriction though I don't know if its fly fished anymore ? I have never had a trout ? I got to the top of a syndicate list for this year so will be poking around over the next few weeks - as with all WP lakes, large and shallow - wonder if its the same one ( I drive an old blueVolvo with a tenchfishers badge in the back window if you see it about!) - May just see it bankside at Manor if this mild spell does come through ( fancy it Wurzel?)!! Cheers mate

Frank,
Definitely up for it, but that op i told you about was a little more severe than i thought. Putting it mildly, i wont be sitting on a fishing chair for long periods any time soon. Paul |

Hi Frank no the one I am on I suspect is not far from the one you are on, it's only a 10 man syndicate and I knwo them all. Loevlly lake that is real
rpeace and quiet. they do have 2 spaces becoming available at the end of the month!!
The resrictions on manor brook are due to the owners opening for water skying at end of march as they make far more money from that |

Hi Rob ,
sounds like a lovely syndicate - only 10 is good number ( the fact you know all members speaks volumes) - is it a big water with a few big girls or a more numbers water? If there are places coming up is there a waiting list already in place? Just forked out more than I have ever done before on this seasons ticket which ends in July so will be looking for new venue ( though do love the Isis pit 1 which I think holds some secrets still !!) AS BT says - its good to talk"""

The lake is 15 acres and absolutley stunning. If you like isis you would love this place. There are 2 tickets availabel end of this month I beleiev due to a
couple dropping out with the credit crunch. It is £300 a year though but in my opinion well well worth the money. You can do basically what you like on the
water, use a rowing boat which are onsite if you like. fish anyware. and everyitme I am there I never see another angler other than on work parties. 7 of the
members have joined it for the carp in the future. Pike to over 34lb bream to over 12lb and real peace and quiet

Frank,
Hope you had a good hoilday matey. They dont seem to have woken up where i'm fishing, which means they really might have got into the thames in the floods or i need to get a large bell fitted to my feeders. :-) Paul |
