Does anybody out there actually know how big the tench really go on Specimen lake at Newlands A.C.
I ask this question in a state of utter disbelief at the T**TS that congregate around that lake (I am not saying everyone fits that bracket).
First you have the carp boys whinging and whining about the tench and bream pestering them and its not as good as "before the floods of 2007".
Then there are the tench anglers and what a b***dy clicky lot they are. Sooner they come to realise they have no great secret to hide locating the tench is not exactly nuclear physics just straight forward tench angling besides you can see the gravel bars on google earth.
All i want to know without the usual bo***cks is just how big do they get in there as I know there must be quite a lot of doubles coz I have seen them (note not caught as yet).
I usually spod a few kilos of particles an hour before nightfall then fish through the night for carp (with some success). Then an hour before sunrise I put a few more spods out then reel in carp rigs leave for about an hour.
Then proceed to fish a feeder directly over spodded area normally with corn and red worms on the hook and a small method feeder a couple yards to the side of baited area. My best session to date was late July 2008 catching 14 tench all over 6lb, 4 of which were over 8lb the biggest being 9lb6oz so it works but if anyone has advice on how to refine this technique its more than welcome.
Oh yer similar story on States Lagoon people either don't know much about it or won't tell i'm not after to much in the way of details just a bit of guidance as to what is there to be caught so I can set myself achievable goals.
All that said its actually a pretty good club to join and exceptional value for money!!!!!!!!!!!!
