Let's all be clear - the government don't do things out of sense - they do things to get votes. There was NO GOOD REASON to ban fox-hunting - if any of you want to read the Burns Report on foxhunting just e-mail me and I'll send it to you. People who read it say: "Er - why did they ban it then????"

The answer is they banned it to get back-benchers back in-line to put through University Fees legistlation and Public Funding of Trust Hospitals legistlation. (It was also a revenge on the Tories for Thatchers destruction of the Miners. Interestingly, I was on the losing side in both conflicts - I worked for both the Miners Familys Support and for the Countryside Alliance!)

It had NOTHING to do with Animal Welfare.

The same thing could very easily happen to fishing as our society becomes more urbanised and increasingly ignorant of where food actually comes from.

Frank, you're quite right! I'm a firm believer that Cynicism is directly proportional to Experience.

I replied from my normal e-mail address, another address which I use on ebay and also from my dogs e-mail address - AllanBorder@xyz.co.uk - which I only use for corresponding with ex-girlfriends! So we'll see what happens!

Allan (a Border Terrier), incidently, would like to see hunting extended to include Anything-Furry-That-Moves. He also wants to repeal the laws that don't allow dogs in some pubs.

I've looked on the Indy website for the poll result but can only see wishy-washy wooley-minded half-opinions!
