It looks abit dry on here at the moment, but hopefully we can change that. i normally fish for barbel but am much looking forward to trying to up my PB this spring. I live in south/east, kent, and venues i have in mind are fishers green, and papercourt. i look forward to sharing some infomation. you seem like a friendly bunch!

BFW had LOADS! i post under darran on their. would love a mild, wet, end to the season! then i can get my tench head on!

Posts: 402 (06/02/06 21:16:16) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Welcome to TFW mate.I have fished Papercourt for the last 10 years, and as a Tench water,it has gone down hill.Too many C**p in there now.Most of the Tench have disappeared in the last few seasons.Sure, there are still some big fish, but it's not worth the time any more IMO.I won't be going back again.Stick to Fishers, and the Lea is next door Good luck.Chris.

Take your point about being dry here but that's up to us isn't it!? Many members here just use the Tenchfishers site nowadays - but you don't have to do anything else then post on here and it's free! Darren - I have a problem going back 26 years with the sailors at Papercourt so I can't offer objective opinions!!!! BUT ...... a certain well known RMC/cemex geezer who frequently features in the papers (I don't mean the Guardian) told a pal of mine that, if he were going to go for big tench , he would go to Larkfield. There you go - loads of words and one bit of pukka info - worth joining this site already! Of course I mean what we call larky 3. Wrong side of the tracks from The Famous Railway Lake of Tenching Legend! I haven't fished there for years. We did a lot on there in 88. The fish were niave compared with Johnsons fish and we had a shedfull, but they averaged 5-6 and the best were 7s. Naturally, the bailif there caught lots of big fish to 13, but there are lots of that sort of bailif about wherever you go. In those days, parked by the Railway Lake and crossed the rail tracks to enter the lake grounds. Nowadays I see you have to park miles away and walk from the other end. I don't know the details, but in my experience, access to Leisure Sport/RMC/Cemex waters usually goes something like: Park in the village - watch out for yellow lines. Walk a mile to the boundary. Throw your tackle over the fence. Climb over yourself. Have a nice day and thanks for your money. It's not always "park in the village" of course. Sometimes it's "Park next to the charming under-priveledged, ethnic minority, Romany Traveller site...." (pikies). So - it might be worth a go for you Darren mate. I'm not sure about whether you still can cross the railway line these days - it's a lot better then the long walk unless you tread on the electrified line, in which case the pikie option is better! I think it was a Public Footpath so maybe.... I think cemex have good forum? Or is it all just carp carp carp? Keep us informed with your thinking eh? Best wishes Drew

Chris T passed me the fellows number i think you are refering too a little while ago, he was out when i rung, but will try again, as chris said he wouldnt mind. i did look around larkie in the summer, i parked in the car park of like a cafe thing, walked under the railway where i have a lake infront of me. turned right.... and it was over the back. bit dodgy... only one swim cleared and remains of a large fire! although did look nice for the pioneering aspect. whilst fishing on the lea today, had a 6lb 9 chub, hooks marsh baliff was very helpful and prob better off fishing there as opposed to fishers green. (hooks marsh is next to 70 acre on FG, but under different ticket. both cemex for those who would like to know) thanks everyone. lets make a toast to TFW!!

"I had 55 six pounders!" Next time I'm down there at larkfield/leybourne/johnsons, I'll try to remember to take butchers at the railway crossing and post back the access situation. If you could get in that way it would be a lot better for you. You could even drop in for a cuppa with me if I'm on the lakes! Just a 6.9. Lovely fish. Drew

Posts: 1256 (13/02/06 23:52:21) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	think my tench campaign is gonna take place on hooks marsh and the fishers green 70 acre. hooks marsh for numbers, and fishers for size. got 10kg of pellets from my barbel campaign leftover that i dont think will see light of day this season on the rivers, so gonna crush that up n mix it with molasess n some layers mash etc etc for my groundbait. gonna make up some BIG feeders, drew, could you send me a picture of the ones you make?
