4lb Maxima has never let me down in 20 odd years - if they are a little line shy drop down to 3lb but make sure ypou tackle is well balanced as a nice 4lb male will let you know about it on 3lb anything !!!!!

Darren, if you're float-fishing it is gonna be close in. Used mono for the stretch. My habit is 5 or 6 lb Maxima mainline with a lighter hooklength which is one of the pre-stretched new fangled types.
For more fun, use a 'pin... For even more fun, use a soft rod. I have a glass rod made by Terry Eustace in the early 80s - called the Tench Special or something like that. It's 12 foot and has an all-through action and a test curve of 8 ozs! The handle bends! Persevere. A tench caught on the float is something special. Good Luck Mate - MAKE IT HAPPEN! Drew |

Hi
I would opt for either sensor and maxima for the biggies andthe drennan super specialist for slightly more delicate work. With respect.... |

Oh yes, good one Joe. Sensor too. Cracking line and good value. I have used it a lot for feeder work and it's a reliable line.

reflo powerline is a mono that the matchemen use.... but will opt out of the fireline.
fancyed a pin for xmas but got 3 terry hearn rods instead.... they might come onto play if my babel rods cant handle the feeders.... on the look out for a specimen float 13fter, been lookin at the fox specimen float, looks ok, and will do me on the rivers in summer too. |
