I've tench fished since I was ten at a variety of waters but mainly at Blenheim Palace- I'm lucky enough to be able to bank fish as I am a Woodstock Resident. I've had many tench from there but nothing bigger than 6lb z- there doesn't seem to be many bigger than this. I am aiming to up my PB this coming year and was wondering if anyone could advise me on any waters near me. I know of linear by reputation but have no idea what it is like as a tench fishery, only that they are big in there, but don't know which lake is best. I also know Dukes lake, North Oxford water, that holds tench- indeed there is a photo of one on this site in the catch reports. What is the tenching like here? Any fish over 6lb z? Any help or other venue suggestions would be most welcome.

Posts: 80 (21/01/06 10:05:48) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Hi RealBK, you are not far wrong with the info you have on Linear complex - both St John's and manor hold some very big tench , the former I think may have more and the latter fewer and a harder venue because of it. If you are local enough would suggest afew dawn trips to both, before the carp anglers have woken up, and look to spot fish / activity then talk to the carp anglers as to when they get bothered by the tench - and from this put a when andd where together and satrt fishing !!! Also the baliff, think its Ray can be very helpful - I have always forund the place hard but have mates who have fished there for 15+ fish in a day bags with 8's and 9's in that - the records is well into double figures on Manor! Blenheim is bank fishable for residents of Woodstock, Bladon and Combe (adjoining villages/towns) although only from certain banks. I have started fishing it seriously again this season, first since mid nineties, and am gonna plan a campaign there next season. Any Blenheim info/discussions are welcome with me anytime as are any about other local venues.

I'll gladly answer any questions I can though! I can help anyone who is piking there also. Anyone can contact me if they want help- I have a friend who works in the park who sees the baliff fairly regularly, especially in the summer, and he finds out how it's fishing for me.
